Deborah Ross-Swain, Ed.D., CCC-SLP is a national and international speaker and author, and the clinical director and CEO of The Swain Center for Listening, Communicating and Learning. She is a former Chief of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, and held a clinical staff appointment to the School of Medicine. Dr. Swain is the immediate past president of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CSHA) and currently serves as chair for CSHA’s Early Intervention and International Committees. She has served on the CSHA Board of Directors for 10 years. She is a Fellow of the Association for ASHA and Editor of SIG 17’s Perspectives Journal. Dr. Swain’s most recent book publication, Confidence and Joy: Success Strategies for Kids with Learning Differences is an Amazon best-seller. In addition, she is the author of numerous other books and standardized test batteries, including the Auditory Processing Disorders (3rd Edition): Assessment, Treatment and Management; The Receptive-Expressive Social Communication Assessment,-Elementary; and The Auditory Phoneme Sequencing Test. Dr. Swain is the recipient of numerous awards, including awards from CSHA and from California State University, Sacramento. In addition, she was honored with the Nancy McKinley Leadership award from the Council of State Association Presidents (CSAP) presented at the annual ASHA convention in Boston, MA.
