Desi Peña es una terapeuta del habla bilingüe y propietaria de Panorama Speech, una compañía que se dedica a apoyar las escuelas y organizaciones con servicios de capacitación, evaluación del habla y CAA, y consulta para estudiantes multilingües. Ella ha trabajado en varios entornos clínicos incluyendo clínicas comunitarias, escuelas públicas, teleterapia, y consultas al hogar. Antes de llegar a ser terapeuta del habla, era maestra de español como segundo idioma e inglés para estudiantes multilingües. Se apasiona por empoderar a los equipos escolares para que sus estudiantes multilingües se sientan integrados culturalmente en sus escuelas y que saquen el mayor provecho durante su trayectoria educativa. Desi Peña, MA, CCC-SLP (she/her/ella) is a Spanish-bilingual speech-language therapist and the owner of Panorama Speech, a company dedicated to supporting schools and organizations through training, speech and AAC assessments, and consultation services for multilingual students. Through her business, Desi also partners with educational entities to design and deliver professional development offerings on the topics of AAC, multilingualism, and related topics such as translanguaging and second language acquisition. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community clinics, public schools, teletherapy, and home-based consultations. In 2024, she earned the Advanced Certificate in bilingual speech-language pathology from Teachers College at Columbia University. She was recognized by ASHA as a Distinguished Early Career Professional in 2022. Desi has been a keynote speaker for statewide conferences, presented at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) convention, and provided professional development to SLPs through podcasts, online summits and courses, and regional conferences. Before becoming a speech-language therapist, she taught Spanish as a Second Language and English to multilingual students. She is passionate about empowering school teams to help their multilingual students feel culturally included in their schools and make the most of their educational journey.
